By Public Transport
Travelling to Tetbury by public transport is convenient, with a combination of bus routes, flexible demand‑responsive travel, and nearby rail connections. Regular bus services—such as those operated by Stagecoach West—link surrounding towns to Tetbury, often via hubs like Merrywalks, with typical journeys taking around 1 hour 50 minutes depending on the route and transfers. For rural areas or times when scheduled buses are limited, The Robin bookable bus offers a highly flexible option. Operated by Gloucestershire County Council, it allows passengers to request pick‑ups and drop‑offs at convenient local stops, helping residents and visitors reach key destinations, onward travel links, and essential services affordably. Tetbury is also well‑served by rail via Kemble Train Station—the nearest mainline station, approximately five miles away—which sits on the Swindon‑to‑Gloucester Golden Valley Line and provides direct services to London Paddington and other major destinations. Despite its rural setting, Kemble station is popular due to its proximity to Cirencester and offers onward bus connections to Tetbury, including a direct 15‑minute journey on the 882 bus route. Together, these transport options make visiting Tetbury straightforward, sustainable, and well‑connected.
