The names Audrey Hepburn and Holly Golighty have become synonymous since this dazzling romantic comedy was translated to the screen from Truman Capote’s best selling novella.  Holly is a deliciously eccentric New York City playgirl determined to marry a Brazilian millionaire.

George Peppard plays her next door neighbour, a writer who is “sponsored” by a wealthy Patricia Neal.

Guessing who is the right man for Holly is easy.  Seeing just how that romance blossoms is one of the enduring delights of this gem like treat set to Henry Mancini’s Oscar winning score and the Oscar winning Mancini-Johnny Mercer song “Moon River.

Latest Covid guidance

While we are grateful that we can begin to operate in a more normal way, we are mindful that throughout the pandemic we have said that we will always put the wellbeing of our community first. We will continue to do so and we have decided, therefore, that for the time being we should keep some distancing practices in place.

In line with Government regulations introduced on the 10th December 2021 we ask that you continue to wear a face covering (unless exempt) when visiting the Goods Shed – this can be removed for the purposes of eating and drinking only – and to be conscious of social distancing in general. This will be harder for us financially but we think it is the right thing to do. We are open (performances, café and for other groups) as we have been whenever possible in this challenging period. We hope you understand, and that we can relax more fully in a couple of months.

Your support of us throughout this period has been humbling and we will do all we can to make your visits to the Goods Shed and café both comfortable and exciting.

Much Ado about Jazz” – a show for people who don’t necessarily like jazz – as well as those who do!

An evening Of Jazz with Chris Gumbley & Al Gurr  (Clarinet/Bass Clarinet/Saxophones & Piano)

After years on the road Chris and Al lost track of people describing jazz as aloof, self-indulgent, even lacking in any real melodic content.

Tonight they revisit some much-loved, mostly jazz classics and present them with an energy that not only involves the audience, but also offers an insight into how jazz musicians work.

Add to that a large dose of dry humour and you start to get a feel for what their performance is all about.

“An exciting jazz duo whose comical timing is as good as their musical timing”

“Jazz fans relished in the exciting renditions of the different standards and yet the non-jazz fans were still completely engaged in the music”

“I dislike jazz, but I loved that!”

“Al and Chris had us in fits of laughter but not because of the music”

“They managed to convert an audience who were sceptical about improvisation to being jazz lovers by the end of the night!”

“The playing was sparkling!
