A “Ceilidh” (Gaelic, pronounced “kay- lee”) is a social gathering. Nowadays the word has become synonymous with a barn dance, which is another name for country dancing.

Tetbury Goods Shed – Gala Fund Raising Evening – Jan Vriend plays Chopin – 17th November

7:30 pm9:45 pm

Gala Evening With Chopin – A fundraising event.

Jan Vriend plays all four of Chopin’s Scherzos and Ballades in celebration of the new Steinway B and to start fundraising for its permanent residency in the Shed.

Composer and pianist, Jan Vriend, has given a few sell-out recitals in aid of the Goods Shed in the past, in which his love of Chopin’s music came amply to the fore. To devote an entire concert to these monumental works by the greatest piano composer of all time is therefore a natural choice and bound to bring out the full range of both the lyrical and the virtuoso qualities of the newly acquired piano.

To help the Shed holding on to it, the evening will be set up in celebratory mode and your ticket will include a glass of wine or other drink, a few canapés and represent a first donation. If you like what you hear and experience, you may want to take part in our fundraising efforts, which we will initiate that evening.

Tickets are £25.00 available from the Tetbury Visitor Centre and online and – On the door on the night £12.00
