Family fun dolphin treasure hunt in Malmesbury, Tetbury, Nailsworth and Wotton under Edge town centers with prizes this worth £560!
Café 53 is celebrating Tetbury’s weird and wonderful connection with ……. dolphins.
Tetbury has serious links with dolphins since before the Elizabethan era, but nobody really knows why. There are signs of dolphins all over Tetbury such as Dolphin Hall, Dolphin tennis club, Dolphin running club, 2 dolphins on the town crest, dolphins all over the Market Hall, dolphins on the wrought iron gates to St Mary’s church, dolphins on a 1817 Tetbury £1 note, etc.
“It’s such an odd notion that Tetbury, a land locked town, has connections with dolphins, we want to make a real thing of this. Our aim is to stoke people’s inquisitiveness about Tetbury and thus hopefully this will encourage more people to come and enjoy our town”.
Café 53 has installed an imposing old Italian bronze fountain of nine dolphins jumping out of water in the cafe garden to really revel in this union. The café is also organising the great DOLPHIN TREASURE HUNT which is now live and free for all to participate. It is fantastic family fun to seek out £560 worth of prizes !!
Forty four dolphin tokens have been hidden in the town centres of TETBURY, NAILSWORTH, MALMESBURY and WOTTON under EDGE. These tokens are hidden in plain view of shops, hotels, pubs and churches. They are easily accessible from the pavement so there is no need to lift anything or trespass.
Each town has 10 x £10 tokens and 1 x £40 silver prize. Bring your dolphin token to Cafe 53 in Tetbury to exchange for £10 worth of food and drink. If your token has a name on the back your token can be exchanged for either a solid silver dolphin (silver Victorian crown in Tetbury) worth £40 or exchange for £40 worth of food and drink.
The legal stuff: terms apply. Tokens have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash. No change given if your bill comes to less than the value of your token. Play safe and ensure your children are supervised. Tokens expire on 31st May 2019.
